Local jazz artist Nduduzo Makhathini is flying the SA flag high, after he announced this week that he is part of the notorious jazz label Blue Note Records, Blue Note Records is one of the best labels in the world amongst others.
The American jazz record label also shouted on social media, saying Makhathini was due to offer out a new album. Makhathini is known as an “incredible pianist & composer”, who is currently in the US, made the announcement on social media. Dianne Reeves, Norah Jones and Anita Baker made their mark at Blue Note Records in the past.
“It’s official I’m signed to @bluenoterecords I’m humbled, so grateful to form part of their long linage and legacy,” Makhathini posted on his Facebook account. The label wrote: “Keep an ear out for this incredible pianist & composer from South Africa: Nduduzo Makhathini.
New music from Nduduzo coming out this fall on Blue Note.” The 37-year-old Makhathini has recorded with other South African jazz icons like Zim Ngqawana, Busi Mhlongo, Herbie Tsaoeli and Thandiswa Mazwai. Makhathini says that joining Blue Note would boost his music to reach more international jazz enthusiasts
